August 20, 2018

We give thanks to God that yesterday, on August 19, 2018 at around noon, the body of James Anderson was recovered from the Yellowstone River near Springdale.  Members of the Park County Sheriff's Office and Gallatin County Sheriff's Office responded immediately to a tip that was received from a fisherman.  As stated by the Gallatin County Sheriff's Office, when unimaginable tragedy occurs, it reminds us of the important things in life like family and friends.  We are truly blessed to live in a place where people genuinely care about each other, even when strangers.  Please continue to keep the Anderson and Nielsen families in your prayers throughout the coming days, weeks and months.

Sunday evening the search for James Anderson shifted from one of rescue to recovery.  Searchers from Gallatin, Cascade, Missoula, and Roosevelt counties continue to be involved in the search.  As stated on the Park County Sheriff's Facebook page, it demonstrates how Montanans take care of each other.  We continue to pray for all those involved in the search for James as well as the Anderson and Nielsen families.  Funeral arrangements are currently being finalized.

With great sadness we ask for your continued prayers for the Anderson and Nielsen extended families.  On Friday afternoon and evening Jim and Angie Anderson were boating on the Yellowstone River, with Nicole, James, and Caleb Harmon (who went to the ELCA Youth Gathering with the CtK youth).

There was a tragic accident, and Angie was killed.  James is still missing.  A search which began Friday evening is still in process.  Jim, Nicole, and Caleb survived the accident.

The CtK pastoral staff are directly supporting the family.  Additional ways to support the Andersons and Nielsens will be coming, and funeral arrangements are pending.
